he's back
today was an interesting day. one of my students returned. his mother withdrew him from the school after a very serious behavior issue arose. she took him out rather than dealing with it. that was all of thursday. he was gone friday, and today he was back. he is my most difficult student. he is very intelligent, but it's obvious he runs the show at home. he is always taunting the other children, and he plays dumb a lot with me. it's very frustrating. he had a good morning, though. him afternoon was a bit harder. he is never tired at rest time, and he plays instead of laying down and sleeping. it is very disruptive to all the other children. i think i'm going to see if there is someone he can help during that time, or something he can do.
after school today i went downtown to an organization that helps students that lack funds for supplies. they give you 100 dollars and half an hour to shop in their "store". all the materials are donated, so the pickings are slim. i'm not complaining. it's 100 dollars that didn't come out of my pocket. i got some supplies for centers, notebooks, halloween construction paper, art supplies, poster board, pens, etc. not the best stuff, but anything helps. it's just nice to see that the community cares enough to donate the supplies.
tomorrow the kids eat breakfast and lunch in the classroom, so it should be a long, interesting day.
