my body is so turned around right now. i do not enjoy the process of returning to a semi-normal routine and time schedule. my body yearns to be on a schedule that includes 12 hours of sleep a night, starting at 2am. getting up at 6 am is not enjoyable. last night i finally went to bed around 1 or 2, only to get up at 6 this morning. i did get a nap this afternoon, though, thanks to comcast showing up before i got home from work.

i hate comcast. they make me want to stick blunt objects into my eyeballs and tear them out. laura j and i have spent about 12 hours on the phone with them in the last week. first, they came out and only installed internet on one computer. so we had to call and talk to them about that. they blamed us for not telling them we wanted the home networking system. you mean the home networking system i didnt know existed? i am such a dumbass for not explicitly asking for that program. please, allow me to pay 150 dollars to install that. soooo they came out and installed this state of the art system that allows 2 computers to use the internet at the same time. the guy that comes has never installed the system before. he gets out his manual and reads how to do it. then, he calls his boy to come help him. so comcast worker 2 comes. together they read the manual and attempt installation. success! we are happy as peaches for almost 48 hours. we are both on the internet buying cute puppy outfits at the same time, and only paying a cool million a month for such great service. but then. the service drops on laura's computer. she politely calls comcast and asks them to fix it. they direct her call to the company that makes the router the computer is hooked to. for 4 hours this company attempts to troubleshoot our system over the phone. and after all her hard work? laura gets... to use my computer because hers still doesnt work. so we continue to call. finally, last tuesday they agree to send someone out. on sunday. so someone comes and is here 15 minutes. of those 15 minutes 14.5 are spent on his cell phone. he then announces that he cant fix the system because the guy who installed it has to fix it. this obviously makes sense because they dont all work for the same company or anything.

so we have been trying to get comcast back out here since sunday. today i left work early to be back in time to let someone in to fix it. i was home by 4, which is exactly when we told comcast we would be here. i get home to find a note on the door. "sorry we missed you, we came at 2:25. call to reschedule." this is why i love comcast so dearly.

work today was also a little bit of a bitch. we had to be there at 7am. today was registration day. now in michigan registration is done by the school secretary and is a low key process. in atlanta, georgia it is a big ass pain in the ass. everyone must re-register. if you have gone to the same school for 5 yrs or its your first day in GA, you have to come in today and fill out the paperwork. it doesnt matter how long youve been there. and its a lot of paperwork. about 20 pages. W! i would be pisssed. so i sat at a table most of the day meeting parents and giving them their stack of papers to fill out. good times. all in all we registered 15 3rd graders before i left. thats 15 kids for the entire grade. there are 3 3rd grade teachers. so i have 5 students? im not sure i can handle the pressure. apparently the rest will come later. they could register up until 7pm tonight (i left at 3:30) and they have tomm and fri morning. a bunch of parents just send the kids on the first day too.

on a more positive note, my classroom is really coming together. i have it mostly set up. i still have a few things to hang and put away, but its looking good. im more concerned with getting ahold of a curriculum map and planning lessons this weekend. i want to start the year off right and be organized. thats definitely one of my weaknesses, organization. luckily i dont have to worry about any of the literacy. we are departmentalized btwn 2 of the classrooms. i am doing the math, science, ss, and monica is doing reading, writing, phonics. i hope to really kick some math ass. its the area i really enjoy and feel i can really communicate to others. i want to get the kids really interested at a young age so they will be more likely to embrace it later on in their lives.

im tired and there is puppy shit to clean up all over the apt, so im off.

I want to get away.
