feeling inspired
im in my pjs. its 2 oclock and im in my pjs. not good. i woke up early this morning because the puppies were running around in my room. i proceeded to lock them out and go back to bed. i didnt rewake up until 11ish. since then ive been watching movies on the couch while they slept. laura has been at a conference all day, and then she went to her classroom to work. way too productive for my taste.
yesterday i made it into the classroom. i spent almost 3 hours putting stuff away, organizing desks, and hooking up the computers. i have hardly any supplies and am feeling so inadequate. there are 2 other 3rd grades. one is self-contained. the other class has a teacher from virginia. she is new this year also. she is young, having taught for 3 years back home. she and i have been talking, which is so nice. she will be teaching my kids reading and writing, and i will teach her class math and science. i wish she would teach social studies. thats the area i struggle in most. its difficult for me to cover the material in a hands-on manner. i dont want to make the kids just read from the book, but i struggle to cover the material when i dont. hopefully not having another teacher interrupting and taking all my time (last year) will be a big help. i am planning on doing some professional web browsing as soon as i finish this too. anyways... this other teacher, monica, and i have planned to have similar discipline methods, and to correlate our curriculums. she said "i just love to teach science through poetry" which made me love her a little bit. hopefully we can be friends and she can be a mentor in the field for me.
well im off to browse some sites for ideas.
